Privacy Policy
Fundibus for iPhone and Apple Watch
- All entries, photos and voice recordings are processed locally on your device only. Speech and image recognition run on the iPhone itself; the only exception is described under Apple Intelligence.
- For languages without an on-device speech model, the voice recording is sent to Apple to be turned into text. The app shows this while recording. Apple’s privacy policy applies.
- If you use iCloud, your entries are stored through Apple’s iCloud service in your own iCloud account and synced between your devices, including Apple Watch, or with people you invite yourself. Apple’s privacy policy applies to that.
- Apple Intelligence: Spoken sentences, the names of your things and, from iOS 27, photos are analysed with Apple Intelligence directly on the device, for example to separate name and place, to pick a fitting symbol or to recognize what a photo shows. If the device cannot decide, the app keeps the default symbol. No data is sent to any server. Apple’s privacy policy applies. If Apple Intelligence is switched off, the app uses simple rules instead.
- Shared lists: For every thing you save or change in a shared list, the name by which the other members know you through iCloud is stored with it. This lets the members of the list see who changed something. Outside that list the name is not visible.
- Notifications: For shared lists, Fundibus can show notifications about changes. They are sent by Apple’s iCloud servers and contain the name of the thing, its place and the name of the person who changed it. Notifications can be switched off in the app’s menu at any time. Apple’s privacy policy applies.
- Access to the camera, microphone, photo library and speech recognition is used only for the corresponding features and can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings.
Fundibus for Android
- Your entries (names of things, their places, lending notes and photos) are entered by you. They are stored only in the app’s protected storage on your device.
- Microphone: the app records only while you tap the microphone. Turning speech into text is done by your Android device’s speech recognition (a Google service). Depending on device and language, that service may process the recording on Google’s servers; Fundibus then shows the note “Speech in this language is processed by Google.” Google’s privacy policy applies to that processing. Fundibus itself keeps no recordings.
- Photos: you take photos with your device’s camera app or pick them with the Android photo picker. Fundibus only sees the picture you choose, never your whole gallery. A reduced copy is kept in the app’s private storage.
- Backup: if automatic Android backup is enabled for your Google account, Android backs up the app’s entries (without photos) to your Google Drive, as it does for other apps. You can turn this off in the Android settings under “Google → Backup”.
- Deletion: deleting a thing also deletes its photo. Uninstalling Fundibus removes all of the app’s data from the device.
- Permissions: microphone (RECORD_AUDIO) for dictation, requested the first time you tap the microphone. No camera permission (the system camera app takes the photo), no internet, no location, no contacts.
